dc.description.abstractThe project discussed is an analysis, using Pinch Technology, of an expansion at Atlas Processing, a Pennzoil Products company located in Shreveport, Louisiana. The expansion involves addition of necessary units to produce and blend components for gasoline. These capabilities will enhance the competitiveness of Atlas and position the refinery for future production of reformulated gasoline. For the electric utility, SWEPCO, the changes to the plant will yield approximately 10MW of additional electrical load and require changes in the service equipment that feeds the plant. Pennzoil found several ways to save in excess of $1 ,000,000 annual operating expense for the proposed units by utilizing efficiency improvements recommended as a result of the collaborative effort involving Pennzoil, SWEPCO and EPRI. SWEPCO gained valuable knowledge of the needs of the customer and how to meet those needs.en
