dc.description.abstract'Setting the bar above mere mediocrity!' The goal of the Energy Efficiency (EE) Best Practice Guide is to help business units meet and exceed their energy efficiency targets through continuous improvement using seven key criteria. The objectives are threefold: -to provide an easy-to-use structure for measuring relative energy performance; -to identify key success and gap areas; and -to quantify seven key criteria. The seven criteria describe how they can help define best practices. The Guide is intended to compliment and enhance existing programs rather than 'layer on' additional work. The Guide was developed from experience and lessons learned from: • The Alliance to Save Energy's work on best practices; • Ontario Power Generation's Energy Efficiency Program from 1994 to 2000; and • A variety of sources including other companies that demonstrate EE best practices. The criteria are sufficiently generic to apply across business units and are applicable to most situations. The Guide must continually evolve from experience and new lessons learned. Feedback from business units, project experience, and from other industrial leaders will be encouraged and sought after.
