Using Petiole Analysis for Nitrogen Management in Cotton
Abstract
For cotton growers, maintaining proper nitrogen balance is a major concern. Petiole analysis, the laboratory analysis of the nitrogen content of leaf stems, can be coupled with plant monitoring to form an effective nitrogen management program. This publication explains the causes of nitrogen deficiencies, sampling procedures, and how to use the laboratory analyses and interpret the results.
