Environmental Impact of the Texas LoanSTAR Program
Abstract
This paper presents an analysis of the
environmental impact of the energy reductions that
have been measured in the Texas LoanSTAR
program. There are a number of factors that
influence emission factors. The three major pollutants
considered in this analysis are CO2, SO2 and NOx.
Emission factors from three different sources were
considered for this paper. This analysis shows that as
of October 1997, there has been a reduction of
emissions of 1,863 tons of NOx, 1.200 tons of SO2,
and 530,000 tons of CO2 through the implementation
of energy conserving measures in the 27 sites
covering 290 buildings with retrofit savings of $36.6
million. The paper presents the results of the analysis
and includes a discussion of the method used to
calculate the emissions reduction.
