dc.description.abstractThe Business-Cycle Index increased 0.3% from March 2024 to April 2024. The local unemployment rate for April 2024 was unchanged from March's value of 3.1%. Local nonfarm employment increased by 0.8% from March to April 2024. Inflation-adjusted taxable sales decreased by 3.6% from March 2024 to April 2024. Inflation-adjusted quarterly wage payments increased by 2.8% in the fourth quarter of 2023 compared to the previous quarter. Employment in the College Station-Bryan MSA was 12.6% higher by April 2024 than it was before the pandemic occurred.en
