Case Studies
Accelerometers were used to measure vibration of the input shaftusing an on-line remote monitoring system Though the vibrationamplitudes were below the acceptable limit for over a year period, two bearing damages were thought to have occurred based onobserved vibration signatures Vibration frequencies and amplitudeswere monitored via both normal and demodulated spectra Onedamage appeared to be on the inner race of a bearing, and the otheron the outer race of a second bearing Vibration signatures versusdamage severity are discussed and lessons are learned regardingassessment of normal and demodulated spectra
