dc.description | Dean Shelton (right) wears the medallion and ribbon for receiving one of Italy's highest awards, honorary membership in the Order of Knights of the Italian Republic. He recieved the medallion and ribbon from Professor Dante Graziosi, president of the Italian Institute for Foreign Trade and head of the country's veterinary medical association. Professor Graziosi was presented with a Texas-shaped plaue declairing him an honorary professor of the College of Veterinary Medicine. dc.description.abstract | Dr. George Shelton (1923-2010). George Shelton born in Stephenville, TX received his DVM in 1948 from Texas A&M University. He moved to Missouri where he practiced veterinary medicine for one year in 1949 before joining the teaching staff of Columbia Veterinary School at the University of Missouri in 1950. He completed a Master's degree at Auburn University and went on to get a Ph.D. at University of Minnesota and from there went back to the University of Missouri to teach and later served as associate dean. In 1973, he returned to Texas A&M as Dean of the Veterinary College.
