dc.description.abstractAlbrecht Konrad Eugster began working for Texas A&M as the head of Diagnostic Microbiology for the Texas Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory (TVMDL). During his ten year tenure in this position, he discovered several diseases new to Texas and in some cases, new to the world. Dr. Eugster was the first to isolate canine parvovirus II and published the first report on this disease in world literature. He also found several pathogenic organisms for the first time in Texas that caused several infections in animals. In 1980 he was appointed by the Texas A&M University System Board of Regents as Executive Director of TVMDl and later received the additional title of Associate Vice Chancellor for Agriculture. In 2001 Dr. Eugster retired and was appointed Director Emeritus by the Texas A&M System Board of Regents.en
