Dr. Hunter educational background includes B.S. Electrical Engineering, Northwestern University 1965; M.S. Biomedical Engineering, Iowa State University 1971; and D.V.M. Veterinary Medicine, University of Illinois 1977. His scholarly interests extend to the following experiential learning in the physiology laboratory teaching environment; preparing undergraduate students for professional and graduate programs and careers in the allied health professions; development of products and the application of technology to enhance teaching and learning. In 2002 as a Professor in the Department of Veterinary Physiology and Pharmacology (VTPP), and his son, Adam Hunter also a technician in the same department, traveled by small airplane around to rural Texas middle schools. They taught children the importance of environmental and water safety as part of the Partnership for Environmental Education and Rural Health (PEER II) program. As of 2017 Professor Emeritus Jon Hunter was instructor for both the Veterinary International Leadership Program (VILP), and the Biomedical Science (BMS) Study Abroad program.
