Dr. John Shadduck was appointed as George Shelton's replacement as Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine shortly after July of 1988. Dr. Shadduck was an Ohio State graduate who came to Texas A&M with experience as a Laboratory Animal Pathologist and an interest in comparative medicine. He worked to solve inadequate funding and the lack of physical facilities, that would bring the College from "limited" to "full accreditation". Under Shadduck's direction, the college underwent a major reorganization.
