Dr. Dickson D. Varner's education consisted of a B.S. Agriculture, University of Missouri 1976; D.V.M. Veterinary Medicine, University of Missouri 1978; and M.S. Veterinary Anatomy, Texas A&M University 1990. He holds veterinary liscense to practice in the state of Kentucky and Texas. His scholarly interests focus on equine theriogenology, fertility probes for stations; in-vitro preservation of equine spermatozoa, capacitation of equine spermatozoa, assisted reproductive techniques; and subfertility in stallions. As of 2017 Dr. Varner was a professor of theriognology in the Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences and had a joint appointment in the Department of Animal Science. He holds the Pin Oak Stud Chair of Stallion Reproductive Studies, and is a Diplomate of the American College of Theriogenologist.
