I am addressing the correlation between vacant buildings in neighborhoods and their negative effects, especially crime rates, in Chicago, Illinois. This is an important issue to address because urban planners and city officials need to understand the effect an abandoned structure can have on not only its immediate vicinity but the entire area. If successful I plan to show that vacant buildings have a negative effect on their area and promote certain types of crimes.en
