Gas Turbine Operation In Extreme Cold Climate
The effects of extreme cold weather on gas turbine operation are described. Suggestions are made which will enhance overall operational effectiveness. The comments and specific recommendations are based on Solar’s experience in the supply and maintenance of over a thousand Saturn and Centaur gas turbines in worldwide cold weather locations. Each manufacturer’s gas turbine has its own tolerances and design constraints; each installation site its own peculiar climatic conditions; and each user his own operation requirements. A clear understanding by all parties involved of the requirements, conditions, and constraints will result in a dependable and economical installation.
