Improving Plant Economy Through Retrofit And Maintenance Of Compressors.
Abstract
Retrofits on compressors can become attractive if the operating requirements of a plant change. Often, compressor modifications are imposed by process changes due to market demands or new process technologies. Sometimes, the rising costs of energy, equipment and labor have spurred the search for ways to reduce the cost of operation of a plant. A number of possibilities for improving economy of operation through retrofits are pointed out. All of the stated possibilities and examples have been actually carried out in one way or another. The intent of this presentation is to provide awareness for operating engineers of the possibilities for improving operating economy of their own plants. The methods of how investigations of retrofit projects are conducted and which aspects must be considered are also shown.
