dc.description.abstract	This paper discusses the use of centrifugal compressors with fixed speed in offshore production units using as reference the experience of the Petrobras’ Rio de Janeiro Operational Unit. The operational and maintenance records of two of its’ major production platforms are used to discuss technical aspects on the specification and acceptance during testing of fixed-speed compressors. From this discussion, recommendations are formulated to prevent repetition of the main problems faced by the Operational Unit in the operation and maintenance of such equipment.	en
