On July 07, 1972 the College of Veterinary Medicine held their annual celebration honoring the academic achievements of their undergraduate students. This Honors Convocation took place at the Memorial Student Center, on the Texas A&M University campus starting at 7:30pm. Master of Ceremonies was Jim Rundell. Invocation was given by Mike Heitmann, and the Welcome and Introductions by Dean Alvin A. Price. Images 0216- 0239 are accompanied with a program for the event. This Program describes twenty different awards that were given out during this event. On the back page, at the bottom, the Veterinarian's Oath is printed. Each picture in this group of images will have a seperate description about the award given to the indivdual('s) in that image.
Description
William C. Bookout (1st year student) was recipients of both the Award of Merit and the Texas Veterinary Medical Association Auxiliary Award. In this image an unnamed women presenst William with either one or both of these awards. Writing on the photo or group of photos: 'AWARDS OF MERIT; Presented each year by the College of Veterinary Medicine to a recipient in each of the classes having completed more than one full term of work in the professional curriculu. Recipients are selected by three criteria: (1) student opinion, (2) faculty opinion, and (3) scholastice achivement. The aim of the program is to identify and reward the all-round outstanding member of each class. RECIPIENT: Willam C. Bookout 1st Year ---TEXAS VETERINARY MEDICAL ASSOCIATION AUXILIARY AWARDS: The TVMA Auxiliary provides awards of $50 each to the recipients of the Awards of Merit in the first-year and third-year classes.
