dc.description.abstractThis is a picture of the winner of the 1939 Santa Anita Derby with her foal. On February 22 at Santa Anita Park in Los Angeles a then 3 year old filly named "Ciencia" owned by the King Ranch of Texas captured the fifth running to win $50, 000. It is unknown if this horse was ever treated or examine at the School of Veterinary Medicine.en
