dc.description.abstractPrimary cells from cockatiel and duck embryos were prepared from unhatched cockatiel and duck eggs. They were expanded and frozen for storage and further use and evaluation. To transform the primary cells and generate a continuous cell line, the cells were grown in 48-well plates and treated with the carcinogen, 3-methylcholanthrene, at varying concentrations and times. Upon addition of the carcinogen some cells began to show morphological changes and in a few wells giant cells appeared. Some cells took on a cuboidal shape, while others piled on top of each other into circular clumps.en
