Description(Black and White) This photograph depicts Baupame Street after several bombardments. The printed French and English text reads: "97--ALBERT (Somme) - Rue de Bapaume après plusieurs bombardements. Au premier plan le debit de Tabac de Mme. Richard./ Bapaume Street after several bombardments. In the foreground the tobacco shop of Madam Richard." A red British stamp is affixed to the top right corner of the back and cost one penny, and the card is postmarked, Richmond, Surrey, on July 10, 1923, at 4:30 P.M. May sends this card to Miss Wortham discussing some future plans.
This collection previously belonged to Dominic Hibberd, an English biographer most noted for the biographies of Wilfred Owen and Harold Monro, World War I poets. He collected these postcards for research purposes.
