Abstract
Combustion trim control systems are utilized to maximize the combustion efficiency of a boiler. The type and cost of a fuel, as well as the size of a boiler, should be considered when selecting the type of combustion trim control system to be applied. Medium to large size boilers can justify the use of analyzer-based systems. The selection of the type or types of analyzers to be utilized may or may not be justified based on accuracy alone. The physical parameters which affect operational accuracy are reviewed and applied to a hypothetical test case.
