Abstract
Texas Utilities Electric Company has been
actively encouraging installations of thermal
storage since 1981. Financial incentives and
advantageous rates can make thermal storage an
attractive cooling concept in Texas Utilities
Electric Company service area.
Currently, 14 million square feet of commercial
building space in Dallas is either constructing
thermal storage or using it on a day-by-day basis.
This presentation will discuss three
technologies for thermal storage systems noting the
particular advantages of each. Thermal storage
technologies are selected by the temperature range
of the storage media.
This is not a design-oriented presentation, but
an overview of what one utility sees taking place in
the commercial and industrial refrigeration market
place.
