Description
An open field with two African American men standing.The soil on the left received 100 pounds of TVA 46% phosphate on vetch in the fall of 1945. This vetch was turned under the spring of 1946, and Irish potatoes were planted. The soil on right received no phosphate and had no vetch. Pictured on left is J. L. Alexander, Negro County Agricultural Agent, and on the right Dave King, Farm Unit Demonstrator.
Although some of the descriptions of photographs in this collection have been altered for clarity, a majority of the descriptions are transcribed verbatim from the back of the photographs and reflect the language of those times.
