Abstract
Worrell & Price (at a paper presented at the Industrial Energy Technology Conference organised by Texas A&M University and held in Houston in May 2001) examined the potential of over 50 emerging energy efficient technologies covering a range of industries. In terms of projected implemented fuel savings achievable by the year 2015, minimisation of fouling in crude oil systems was found to be the second most significant of the technologies considered. It yielded a potential fuel saving of 123 TBtu (130 PJ) in the USA. The next step proposed for the development of the technology was R&D.
Over the last year ESDU International, with support from the UK Government's Energy Best Practice Scheme, have been examining how these R&D needs can be identified and met.
