Economics of Irrigation Systems
Abstract
Choosing and buying an irrigation system for crop production can be expensive and complex. This publication discusses six common types of irrigation systems used in Texas: conventional furrow; surge flow furrow; mid-elevation spray application center pivot; low elevation spray application center pivot; low energy precision application center pivot; and subsurface drip irrigation. There is information on costs, benefits and other factors that should be considered.
