Optimization of Chilled Water Systems
Abstract
Chilled water systems are one of the major energy consumers in industrial, commercial, and institutional
complexes. The centralization of chilled water systems has considerable advantages, namely: simplified controls, the installed capacity is reduced due to diversity, consolidated maintenance and operation, etc. With
chilled water systems, the following areas present potential energy and cost savings:
Chilled Water Reset
Condenser Water Reset
Sequencing of the Chillers
Chilled Water Storage
Variable Chilled Water Pumping
In this paper the feasibility aspect of each of the above items will be discussed.
