Employee Participation in Preventing Catastrophic Chemical Hazard
Abstract
This presentation will focus on the value of employee participation in preventing catastrophic chemical hazards. It will include discussion on why process hazard analyses are ignored or not followed-up; how in some cases front line employees had warned about risks that preceded incidents (or prevented them); current management health and safety programs that include employee participation as a key element; and recommendations from Chemical Safety Board investigations that can enhance worker engagement.
