dc.description.abstractHigh speed gear drives can be reliable if all the factors influencing their design, application, and operation are considered during the design stages. This paper will discuss the parameters used by gear engineers and the influence of design variations. Design will be analyzed from gear tooth geometry to installation considerations. Manufacturing processes, lubrication, allowable vibration levels, along with a simple gear comparison method, will be discussed.en
