dc.description.abstractR. Wofford Cain received a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering in 1913 from the Agriculural and Mechanical College of Texas, (Now know as Texas A&M University). He made his fortune in the Oil and Gas Industry. Mr. Cain was a Trustee and Chairman of the Texas A&M Foundation and supporter of Aggie athletics. He desired to show his appreciation for the opportunities that A&M gave him, and to give those same opportunites to others. The Cain Foundation was established in 1952 by Effie Marie and Wofford Cain to support Texas educational institutions, public charities, civic organizations and medical research programs. R. Wofford Cain is the namesake of Cain Hall on campus, established a number of Award Scholarships, contributed to building and refurbishing of many campus facilities. The Cain's were owners of a racehorse, but it is unknown if this is their horse in the image.en
