An archaeological survey of a proposed 1.08 mile water line and a water treatment plant in east-central Sabine County, Texas was performed on May 11 and 12, 2009 by Brazos Valley Research Associates (BVRA) for the Beechwood Water Supply Corporation (WSC) under Antiquities Permit 5209. In all, the area comprises 1.96 acres. Twenty-one shovel tests dug through sandy loam, disturbed fill, and clay to depths of 10 to 100 cm were negative in terms of producing cultural materials. No artifacts were collected. It is, therefore, recommended that construction be allowed to proceed as planned. Copies of the report are on file at the Texas Historical Commission (THC); Texas Archeological Research Laboratory (TARL); the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB), Beechwood WSC, and BVRA.en
