Abstract
The Business-Cycle Index decreased by 1.6% from October to November 2020. The local unemployment rate increased to 5.9% in November from 4.8% in October but remained the second-lowest rate among Texas metros. Local nonfarm employment increased slightly by 0.23% in November and is 4.9% lower than it was in November 2019. Local real taxable sales increased 2% from October to November but were 6.7% lower than the same month last year. Real gross domestic product in the College Station-Bryan MSA grew 1.7% in 2019 and is almost double its size relative to 2001. The GDP estimate for 2020 will not be released by the Bureau of Economic Analysis until December 2021.
