VIBS 310 Week 3: Scientific Abstracts and Information Overload

Abstract

In this learning module, students learn what abstracts are and why they're so important to scientific discourse. They also practice identifying different parts of abstracts as part of a group exercise. Finally, they practice writing abstracts, submitting a rough draft of an abstract they write for a scientific article that was previously published without an abstract.

Description

Note that neither the abstracts used by students in the discussion exercise nor the research articles students use to write their abstracts are included in this package. This is, in part, to avoid copyright complications and, in part, because these materials change every semester. Any abstracts or published research articles could be substituted.
