Abstract
The purpose of this study was to develop and produce an audiovisual recruitment module for the Victoria College Allied Health Department. The primary objective of the module was to present the various health care programs available through the college and to dramatize the positive characteristics of each. The information needed to write the manuscript for the audio portion of the program was obtained through use of instruments designed specifically for that purpose. First-year nursing students provided these data by completing Questionnaire A which sought out reasons why they entered the nursing profession. It also sought information as to why these same students attended the nursing program at Victoria College. Following completion of the recruitment module, 119 high school students were asked to evaluate the content and quality of the program. Because of the nature and purpose of the study, analysis of the data was presented in descriptive frequencies and percentages. Analysis of data indicated that the recruitment module might, in fact, be an effective recruitment tool for the Allied Health Department. However, since the study instruments (Questionnaires B and C) solicited subjective responses for Ss, a follow-up longitudinal evaluation is recommended by the researcher.A list of the high school Ss was given to the director of the Allied Health Department to allow the individual to determine, at a later date, if desired, whether high school students who participated in the study applied for entry into any of the programs.
