Abstract

This study investigated the relationship of community power structure to the results of school bond elections in two Texas communities of approximately 10,000 inhabitants. The objectives of this research were to (a) identify the top leaders of the two communities and examine certain personal characteristics that they possessed, (b) examine the type of formal organizations in which these leaders participated and the importance of the organizations in the school bond elections, (c) investigate the interaction patters between persons identified as leaders, and (d) to compare the results of four different procedures used in identifying the leaders of the two communities. ...
