Abstract
Many applications for heat pipe technology
have emerged in the relatively short time this
technology has been known. Heat pipes incorporated
in heat exchangers have been used in tens of
thousands of successful heat recovery systems.
These systems range from residential and
commercial air-to-air heat exchangers to giant
air preheaters for the process and utility
industries. The heat pipe offers a unique,
efficient heat transfer device that can recover
valuable thermal energy resulting in reduced
equipment and operating costs.
Q-dot is the world leader in heat pipe
technology and we have applied our expertise
in engineering heat recovery products for the
process industry. This paper discusses two
such products, the heat pipe air preheater and
waste heat recovery boiler. These heat pipe
products have been used in many successful
installations all over the world and some
important, distinctive features of these systems
will be presented.
