Abstract
The results of a survey of the helminth parasites of six species of Cyprinodont fish and two species of Poeciliid fish are given. Examination of 613 fish resulted in the collection of 30 species of helminth parasites, including 11 species of trematodes, eight species of cestodes, nine species of nematodes and two species of acanthocephalans. The parasites were identified and their descriptions are given. The fish were collected from five areas of the Texas coast, ranging from one extreme of the coast to the other. The host and geographic distribution of each parasite is considered.
