Abstract

Purpose [line break] The purpose of this study was to identify and analyze factors as they relate to the withdrawal end persistence of first-time-in-college students. The specific objectives which served as guidelines for the implementation of this research are listed as follows: 1. To determine dropout, transfer, and persistence rates among first-time-in-college students who enrolled for the fall semesters of 1964, 1965, and 1966. 2. To determine the relationship of selected intellective and nonintellective factors to persistency and withdrawal among those who withdrew prior to or upon completion of the freshman year and those who continued their education at Tarleton State College. 3. To determine reasons for the withdrawal of freshmen students from Tarleton State College as perceived by those who withdrew. 4.
