Abstract
New developments in closed loop combustion control are causing radical changes in the way combustion control systems are implemented. The recent availability of in line flue gas analyzers and microprocessor technology are teaming up to produce superior combustion control performance.
The recent developments coupled with the continuing rise in energy costs has sparked a renewed interest in improving the control of the combustion process.
This paper looks at the combustion process and some of the control alternatives. It tries to identify the necessary ingredients of good closed loop flue gas trim control and describes a new microprocessor based solution to incorporating those ingredients into existing or new combustion control systems.
