Abstract
Intermolt crayfish show no significant change in total sugar or glucose 24 hours after eyestalk removal. Homogenates of eyestalks, cerebral ganglia and thoracic cords injected into intermolt normal eyestalkless animals cause an elevation in blood sugars. Summarily, intermolt eyestalks elevate glucose and non-g;ucose sugars. Premolt eyestalks injected into intermolt animals result in ca. 50% the response obtained with intermolt eyestalks.
