Abstract
During April 1950-October 1975, 73,926 fish, including 28,423 black drum (Pogonias cromis), 20,517 spotted seatrout (Cynoscion nebulosus) and 12,449 red drum (Sciaenops ocellatus), were tagged on the Texas coast. Of these, 3386 were reported as being recaptured, including 1485 red drum, 850 black drum and 816 spotted seatrout. The majority of the reported recaptures of each of the seven major species moved <10 km from the tagging location, remained within the same bay system in which tagged, and were at liberty for <180 days. Sport fisherman accounted for ~63% of the reported recaptures.
