dc.description.abstract | Optimizing operating conditions in an industrial powerhouse is often a difficult task. Operators will normally choose the most reliable mode of operation without considering all aspects for best efficiency. To help bridge the gap between reliability and efficiency, an additional operating tool is required. An interactive off-line computer system has been developed for Diamond Shamrock, Deer Park Works, that will provide this tool. The system models powerhouse conditions and requirements utilizing an operator's response to questions asked by the computer. Once all the questions are answered, the computer calculates and prints out the most economical operating condition of the power system. | en |
