Abstract
The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of administrative and faculty attitudes towards students at the undergraduate level who are twenty-five years of age or older on the programs and policies offered at three selected institutions of higher education in Texas. The universities selected for study represented three distinct types of institutions of higher education. Information for the study was obtained through the use of structured interviews and survey questionnaires. Interviews with randomly selected administrators were conducted to measure their attitudes towards older students; the faculty sample was surveyed with a questionnaire to aid in measuring the effect of their attitudes. The data was tested through the use of two computer programs: (1) descriptive statistics were computed utilizing the DISTAT program to determine mode, median, mean, and standard deviation; (2) The ANSCHEFF program was used to determine the significance of observed differences among the means of particular groups and for analysis of variance.
