The methods utilized by this central labor council to accomplish this goal are analyzed in light of its leadership, its ability to operate politically within the framework of county and municipal government, Texas laws governing public employee unionism, and rises and falls of its economic stability. Following chapters provide a documentation of the history of county and municipal unionism after the 1957 merger of the local AFL and CIO bodies to form the Tarrant County Central Labor Council. Because of a very strong and influential fire fighter Local, a separate chapter is provided for fire fighter and police employee relations. ... | en |
