dc.description.abstract | Purposes of Research The purposes of the study were to identify the current and projected uses of CAM/NC technology in Texas industries, the needs for training and education CAM/NC technology and the relationship between public education and industry in terms of research and development of concepts, techniques, and training of personnel for industry. Procedure of Research A status interview schedule was developed from existing curriculums in CAM/NC and the latest projections included in professional and trade journals. The interview schedule was reviewed by qualified industrial personnel and pilot tested with three industrial plants which met the criteria of being a former member of the APT Long Range Program (ALRP), and a current member of the Computer Aided Manufacturing - International agreement. The data were collected by personal interviews with representatives of 34 companies of corporations or corporations identified thought the current membership list of CAM-I, the current membership list of the Numerical Control Society, manufacturers' associations, telephone directories of the major metropolitan areas and distributors of CAM/NC equipment. ... | en |
