Abstract
With today’s emphasis on efficient use and conservation of energy, selecting the correct pump for a given application requires not only a concise performance evaluation but also detailed economic analysis. A microcomputer program entitled PUMPCALC has been developed to aid the engineer in pump selection, sizing and energy calculations. This paper reviews the technical considerations affecting the sizing and selection of pumps and describes how this microcomputer program can be applied to greatly reduce the time required to evaluate various pump options. An example case of a typical pump application is present and the results obtained using PUMPCALC are discussed.
