Tyler County Development Strategy document assesses some strategies for the future
growth of the county by focusing on the asset of the community. This document was
developed by Texas Target Communities in partnership with the County.
Description
Located in southeastern Texas near the Louisiana border, Tyler County is 936 square miles of dense forests, grasslands, and wetlands. 21,766 people reside in Tyler County according to the 2010 Census, with Woodville as the county seat. Woodville is an hour and a half drive east from Houston, and a little under an hour drive north from Beaumont. Tyler County is a part of the Deep East Texas Council of Governments (DETCOG). This is a collective association of the local governments in East Texas. This voluntary organization consists of twelve counties.Subject
