The first Texas Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratories facility was built in 1969, and since has had three expansions, in 1978, 1992 and 2004. The building shown in this image is the 1992 construction of added space for laboratories. As of 2014 it was reported that the diagnostic Laboratories handles more than 825,000 tests per year from clients in Texas, the United States and around the world, and the College Station facilities employs approximately 100 staff and serves as one of the two full-service facilities in the TVMDL agency. The other full service Laboratories is in Amarillo, with additional poultry diagnostic laboratories located in Center and Gonzales. A new facility for TVMDL was completed in College Station in 2017.
