dc.description.abstractFunds for the construction of the original center facility were gifts from Ms. Stevenson of La Porte,Texas and the W.P. and Bulah Luse Foundation in Dallas, Texas. The Board of Regents approved the naming of the center's first building the "W.P. Luse Foundation Building" in recognition of the foundation's support of the center. The W.P. Luse Foundation Building and the Stevenson Companion Animal Life­ Care Center were dedicated on March 26, 1993. The first pets to live at the center arrived in November 1993.en
