Proper alignment of rotating equipment has long been recognized as a prerequisite to safe, reliable operation. Achieving proper alignment, however, involves much more than merely adjusting the machines so that the shafts are coaxial. It involves the design and implementation of the equipment and of the system into which the equipment is integrated. Important issues in design and implementation of the entire system are highlighted, along with details of the final alignment process.en
