The relatively new technology of rotary gas-liquid separation has been advanced by the development of a rotating centrifugal separator closely coupled to a centrifugal turbocompressor. This development by a major equipment manufacturer included the creation and calibration of an integrated design suite, and the use of this tool to optimize a separator/compressor stage. The compression and separation performance of this design was verified by building test hardware and testing it in the original equipment manufacturer’s (OEM’s) multiphase flow loop. Overall test results agreed well with performance predicted by the design tools.en
