Dr. William E. (Bill) Britz Jr. was one of the Veterinarians for "Ham" and did help with some of the care of "Enos" and the other test chimpanzees. William Britz served with the Air Force from 1959 to 1980 with the 6570th Aeromedical Research Laboratory and reached the rank of Colonel. He was a 1959 graduate of the University of Illinois- College of Veterinary Medicine. From 1962-1964 he worked on a Masters of Laboratory Animal Medicine at the USAF School of Aerospace Medicine and also received a Masters in Laboratories Animal Science at Texas A&M University. Dr. Britz has been the owner and Chairman of BH, Inc. since 1991 which designs, fabricates and installs animal containment equipment.
